Product Review: Best of the bunch
This is not the cheapest filter on the market but it is the only one with a pair of integral isolators. My previous unit did not have isolators so you coudlnt clean it thoroughly. This one can be completely removed for cleaning. The flushing attachment is not expensive and makes flushing that bit easier to organise.

One tip - don't lose the O rings else you will get a leak for sure!

Product Review: Read this if you need to pump uphill
You need this information BEFORE you buy the pump. It is in fact on page 6 of the instructions for use manual you get with the pump.
The formula required is, the approximate Horizontal Distance = (maximum total head - measured working head height) x 10.
In my case I was using the pump to transfer water from a butt at the bottom to a butt at the top of my garden, a height of 4.5M.
The maximum total head height of the pump was 12M (as advertised). Therefore, 10(12M - 4.5M) = 75M maximum pumping distance.
As it is only 25M to the top of my garden, there was more that enough pressure to do the job easily.
( I think it takes approximately 15mins to transfer 200 litres.)

Product Review: Simple answer to an irritating problem
I had a couple of radiators with small leaks, nothing drastic, just drip drip drip. As the dripping radiators were more irritating than a real problem, I sort of forgot about them. The little glass bowls under the leaks only had small amounts of water and plumbers are expensive! Then I noticed one of the glass bowls had been moved and there was a small stain on the carpet, so annoying. I mentioned this to a friend who suggested I try Fernox Leak Sealer which reminded me of the sealer I used in old cars for leaky radiators. Easy to use, just part emptied the system and poured the Fernox into a radiator through one of the top openings, where the bleeding nipple is. Once in, and the nut replaced, I filled the system and turned on the central heating. Easy as that and far cheaper than calling out a plumber. The whole process took about fifteen minutes!

That was about two weeks ago and since then the heating has been on a lot owing to some really cold weather and there...
